Compass this Year: 2023-2024

Compass is off to a great start this year! We had a full summer of weekly volleyball and started our small groups & teaching nights in September. This year’s Compass group is a bit smaller than past years due to various reasons but one of the major changes in the group size is due to the fact that 16 previous Compass members moved into Lighthouse to continue to seek the Lord and live out community life within Lighthouse - what a gift! Compass, though smaller in numbers, is brimming with life with 15 members in small groups. Many are new to Compass within the last year or two and 9 are new to Compass this year. There are two women’s groups and one men’s group. They meet twice a month - the first Tuesday of the month at our Teaching Nights following a talk for group discussion and the third Tuesday of the month for a regular small group night. The Leadership team, the “L-Team”, of Compass consists of six members who work together closely with the three small group leaders to support all those in Compass small groups. Each Compass member is also equipped with a pastoral worker who meets with them every two months or so.

Whether it be a Lighthouse prayer meeting, a community wide Lord’s Day, or the fall Men’s and Women’s retreats, our goal is to connect Compass with the larger community of the People of Hope to give them a taste of community life with all of you :)

This year for our monthly Teaching Nights, Compass is receiving talks based on John Mark Comer’s “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry”. Each Compass member received their own copy of the book to read and pray through as they hear the talk content over the upcoming months. The simple yet challenging themes of the book are already inspiring us as we hear the talks, discuss within small groups, and read the book.

Compass this year for the first time is committed to join a Lighthouse District or another People of Hope event once a month. Whether it be a Lighthouse prayer meeting, a community wide Lord’s Day, or the fall Men’s and Women’s retreats, our goal is to connect Compass with the larger community of the People of Hope to give them a taste of community life with all of you :) Many of the Compass members were able to participate in some, or all, of the fall retreats in September and were able to walk grateful for having been able to attend the wonderful retreats and connect with the many men and women from POH.

if you see a new, younger face that you may not recognize at an event, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and say hello!

We are excited to continue see how the monthly connection with Lighthouse and the larger POH body will benefit the Compass members and vice versa. So,

if you see a new, younger face that you may not recognize at an event, please don’t hesitate to introduce yourself and say hello! Please keep Compass members & leaders in your prayers this year as we journey together to seek the Lord and all He has for us in this community!
