There is a lot of newness about this year and we are grateful to be back together for another year. This year we are excited to welcome six new youth workers to our team! Serving in Ignite takes a lot of time and energy and we are so excited and incredibly grateful for these new, dynamic men and women who are excited to get involved and serve our teens this year. They are awesome and have already been a great asset to the team. We also have eight returning youth workers, the veterans, who have been serving in Ignite for some time now who make Ignite what it is. There would be no Ignite without these youth workers & they give so generously of their time & talents. Please pray for the team as they serve the youth this year. We had our first Ignite event on Thursday, September 30th and had a great turn out! We have many new faces, many being the freshman class as well as some new friends from the other grades. We were also excited to welcome back the other teens who have participated in Ignite in the past. We had a fun night with different games, getting to meet the new Ignite team and getting to just meet and hear about the teens after the summer hiatus. It was a great night!
The pastoral team also took sometime to pray and look at our program with new eyes before the start of the year. We felt called to create a mission statement for Ignite so we can identify who we are. We shared this with our teens at the first Ignite Night and we hope to continue to dive more into it throughout the year so all involved in Ignite know what it is and be encouraged to live by it.
New Ignite Mission Statement Within Ignite we strive to choose Christ at all times and to embrace a countercultural way of life. We desire to be followers of Jesus who radically live out our Catholic faith and support one another in our faith journey. We recognize the dignity of others as sons and daughters of God and seek to show love and respect to all. Through the gift of the Holy Spirit, we seek to personally and authentically own & grow our faith and live in a deep personal relationship with our Triune God and with one another.
We are excited to see all the Lord has in store for us this coming year in Ignite. We are looking forward to our annual fall retreat to LBI this November and many more events & opportunities we will have with the teens this year. Please keep the teens & the youth workers in your prayers throughout the Ignite year!
